Plant traffic volume data was submitted to the Board and discussion on this information and Procedure Bulletin P-0700 was tabled and placed on the agenda for August 14 meeting. Item 2. Jim Gatewood presented a proposed new procedure for moving unusual loads through Plant streets. The Board accepted the proposal with the reservation that it be reviewed before next meeting for potential problems before implementing the new procedure. Item 3. Jack Carlisle and Mike Ward reported on their progress for reviewing and developing new rules for pedestrian traffic in the plant. The need for better cross-walk identification, more and higher visibility signs conforming to International Sign Codes and better communications of present or new rules was defined. An action plan for the new program will be due to the Board by October 1. 13555 In the interest of getting interim action before housekeeping inspection it was decided to rejuvinate present cross-walks prior to the inspection. One recommendation was to use "plant on" raised lane markers such as those used on city streets as a permanent cross-walk marker to reduce'the maintenance cost of continual painting. A sample and recommendation is due to the Board by August 21. The 1975 Plant Inspection preparation plan was submitted by John Rasmussen and accepted and is being implemented. Alcoholism Film A letter from James Wilson recommending the purchase and use of a film on alcoholism in the plant's health and safety programs was discussed. The Board wanted to preview the film before making a recommendation. The film will be previewed at the August 14 meeting. AC Outlets A letter from W. H. Lane on the topic of replacing AC outlets to conform to OSHA Standards was dicsussed. Changes are being made in the P-T area. The Board asked for a review and recommendation for other office areas and labs. Responsibility: Ben Kullerd Target Date: August 21. Smoking in Meeting Rooms 13556 It was reported that during recent large meetings in the Research Conference Room, air in the classroom was heavy with smoke. Some employees complained that the atmosphere was noxious and in their opinion unhealthy. The Board was asked to make a recommendation to ban smoking in conference rooms during meetings in the interest of the health and safety of all employees.
