SPECIALTY PRODUCTS
Core And Mold Coatings
Refractory coatings provide molds and cores with an impervious barrier between the sand surface and the molten metal. This ensures excellent sand peel from casting with improved casting finish.
Release Agents And Partings A complete line of release agents and partings include green sand liquid partings like Super Slik for high pressure molding, and Y-250 Liquid Parting which is specifically produced for patterns difficult to draw. To overcome environmental and health factors where non-liquid releases are need, Avon Dry Parting is available. A complete line of COBRA (Cold Box Release Agents) are stocked. For no bake applications, Air Set Release is unmatched.
AquaPart II - A patented, unique water-based liquid parting which provides improved odor characteristics and reduced flammability for foundry molding applications. Flammability has long been a concern in automatic molding operations, and with the water-based formula, this problem can be minimized or eliminated.
Die And Squeeze Casting Lubricants DilucoTM - The industry's most consistent and highest quality die lubricants. Water-based formulas handle wide temperature variations and effectively control staining and soldering.
Slag Set Slag Conditioners - a blend of materials which improve results over the single mineral slag coagulants frequently used in the foundry industry.
Plunger LubeTM - a water-based plunger lubricant for cleaner, efficient cooling. An effective, economical oil-based lubricant for most operations.
Permanent Mold Coatings
ConcoteTM - A ready to use, low pressure die casting and permanent mold coating formulated with special refractories, binders, wetting agents, and preservatives.
Red Chief Core Paste - A water-based adhesive with a rapid drying characteristic when applied to warm cores or dried in a conventional oven.
Green HornetTM - A water based adhesive that provides good strength in a relatively short

period of time. The product has excellent storage life.
Shurstik 306 Core Adhesive - A solvent-based product designed to meet the increasing demands for higher production rates and efficiency. The product exhibits excellent strength with short periods of set time.
Mudding Compounds - Hill and Griffith offers many types. Compounds can be easily worked into core joints and smoothed without special tools or techniques, reducing grinding and cleaning of finished castings.
Core Oils Hill and Griffith offers a conventional core oil, formulated with alkyd oils, petroleum resins and drying agents, which is used in operations that require high strength and minimum of baking time. Applied as a solvent-less binder, the consistency of the cores produced is very high. Applied as a solvent containing binder, the cost of the product is decreased for the user. Hill and Griffith also offers water-borne emulsified core oils for reduced hydrocarbon emissions.

Since 1896 the Hill and Griffith Company has been a leader in the Foundry Supply Industry. Two specific reasons for this long respected position are devotion to the development of modem and efficient production methods and an uncompromising desire to give excellent service to our foundry customers.
Hill and Griffith is a pioneer in the development of the PREMIXTM concept and introduced its first PREMIXTM a combination of carbons and clays, in the early 1930's under the trade name Lavobond.
The premix facilities located at Cincinnati and Burbank, Ohio; Chicago, Illinois; and Birmingham, Alabama, are examples of Hill and Griffith's continuing effort to improve its production methods and provide better service for the members of the cast metals industry.
Efficiency - Hill and Griffith's modem blending equipment permits the necessary sand additives to be mixed according to the customer's specific formula. This prescription blending method provides foundrymen with the ability to adjust and control additive requirements for the entire range of cast metal production.
Although PREMIXTM varies according to the type of castings being produced, all of the quality ingredients listed on the product bulletin can be used.
Prewetting - Recent foundry bag house studies revealed a large percentage of dry additives escaping through muller exhaust system. Controlled moisture additions to Hill and Griffith PREMIXTM reduces these losses at the muller and reduces operation costs by eliminating the need for elaborate dust arresting equipment.
Prewetting assures rapid additive dispersion in the mulling cycle. Prewetting reduces segregation of dissimilar weight components in the premix, thus stabilizing the manufactured product blended ingredients. Because of these reasons; Hill and Griffith reserves the right to add moisture as necessary.
Hill and Griffith PREMIXTM simplifies inventory control. PREMIXTM lowers the required investment of total inventory to two or more sand additives.
Economy of Bulk Storage - Bulk handling of Hill and Griffith PREMIXTM assures a reduction in the total labor cost of sand systems. Bulk storage systems permit use of automated equipment to deliver sand additives directly to the muller on an accurately formulated and controlled basis.
