TOPIC Mixing Water
product: Super "66" ~ ... Insulating Cement
; ;>
The quality of the mixing water , used in the application of Super "66" Cement sometimes is of concern on projects in remote areas, away from city water supplies; or where the drinking quality of the water is uncertain.
EaglePicher Supet "66" Cement derives its insulating quality from the bulky
pellets of mmexal fibers that are its primary constituent. In the applied state, it is necessary that these pellets be held in position by a clay binder. During the time of application, this clay binder lubricates the mineral fiber pellets, providing

a smooth troweling, plastic mass. In the Super "66" Cement formulation,
specific ingredients are incorporated to provide a "buffering action" to prevent
the amount of dissolved ingredients normally found in water supplies of drinking
jr-
c quality from upsetting the action of the clay during either of these two phases of use.
co
A general assumption may be made that waters, having high dissolved solids content, or other ingredients that make it unsuitable for drinking purposes are used in the mixing of Super "66" Cement, the plastic properties required for acceptable troweling action and/or the normal strength upon drying may not be developed. It is for this reason that each bag of Super "66" Cement carries the instructive note "Mix this bag (SO lbs.) with 12 gallons of clean, fresh water." This statement should be interpreted to mean "drinking water," "potable water," filtered deionized water," or "distilled water."

EAGLE-PICHER
Description: Eagle-Picher Super "66"
Insulating' Cement is composed of small, resilient pellets of higi temperature, mineral fiber, blended in a dry fonts with suitable binders and corrosion inhibitors. With the addition of water a highly plastic insulating cement is formed, suitable for application on a wide variety of surfaces requiring a service temperature up to 1700F.
SUPER "66" INSULATING CEMENT
Uses: Recommended for ovens, kilns, process or
power generation equipment units where a high temperature cement is required. Also, on heated equipment already in operation, where some minor repair may be needed, without shutdown of the equipment.
Advantages:
Easy to Apply: Specially formulated for ease of trowelling.
ASBESTOS-FREE
Excellent Adhesion: Highest quality binders are used to provide outstanding wet and dry adhesion to all types of surfaces.
High Coverage! Proper sizing of mineral fiber pellets and selection of binders reduce shrinkage and afford excellent coverage.
Reusable: Unlike hydraulic setting cements, it can be re tempered and applied, provided the cement has not been heated above 250 F.
