We would love to have you or someone you send there listening mode would be ideal. We would not put you on the spot. In addition, do you know anything about Paul Loether's plans to publish a revised Bulletin 38 on Traditional Cultural Properties and a 60 pg. Q&A? This is relevant to a decision earlier this week of the Alaska Historic Commission on a proposal to list on the National Register 109,000 acres of state and private land over the objections of private landowners, Alaska DNR and the Alaska Mental Health Trust which holds title to coal reserves. Please let me know if there is a good time to give you a call. Thank you, Karen Bennett CLARK HILL July 25, 2017 BROWN BAG LUNCH ON NATIONAL HISTORIC PRESERVATION ACT IMPLEMENTATION AND SECTION 106 REVIEW Clark Hill invites you to a brown bag lunch discussion on the National Historic Preservation Act ("NHPA") and Section 106 review, which will explore opportunities to address NHPA implementation concerns through administrative and legislative actions. Two recent developments have made these issues particularly topical: a July 18 Congressional oversight hearing at which concerns were raised about use of the Act to delay or prevent development and a proposal to list on the National Register of Historic Places, 109,000 acres (170 square miles) of state and private land, over the objection of private landowners. These and other implementation issues will be discussed. A link to these proceedings is available at https://naturalresources.house.gov/oversightandinvestigations http://dnr.alaska.gov/parks/oha/ commentsubmit. The session will include comments from invited federal agencies, including the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, Department of Transportation, Department of Agriculture and the Department of the Interior. Insights from the hearings and potential next steps that could be taken both administratively and legislatively will also be discussed. Karen Bennett will moderate the panel. The meeting is off the record, by invitation, and not open to the press. The brown bag will be held on Tuesday, July 25, 2017, from 12-1:30pm ET at the offices of Clark Hill PLC, 1001 Pennsylvania Ave., N.W., 13th floor South. Space is limited. RSVP by July 24 to Karen Bennett, (202) 572-8676 or kbennett@clarkhill.com. 205537153.1 09999/09959-030019 Conference call information is available for out of town guests.
