ABD00217097 VISTA CHEMICAL COMPANY ABERDEEN PLANT VINYL CONTROL SYSTEM MODERNIZATION PROJECT STATUS SEPTEMBER 11, 1990 1.1 PCD's are being updated by Contech at this time. 5.2 Control Building Construction Interior build-out began the week of August 20th. Under floor cable tray installation began the week September 10th. Raised flooring will be installed the week of September 17th. 5.3 Phase I Electrical Upon completion of interior wall-board, electrical equipment will be positioned in the equipment room for cable terminations. 15.1 ABB (Taylor) Software Development Work is on scheduled for the September 24th factory acceptance test. 29.1 Generator Building The generator foundation was poured the week of September 3rd. Once the building contract is awarded the generator will be delivered and electrical work can proceed. 32.1 Phase 2 Instrument/Electrical Construction Bid packages will be released the week of September 17th. A meeting with all bidders will be held at the plant October 2nd. Bids will be due the week of October 8th. The contractor chosen will start work as soon as possible. 36.1 Fresh Air Stack Bids have been received. The contract will be awarded to Dill and Norris for completion November 10th. 36.2 Junction Box Replacement Individual box replacement began the week of September 3rd. This will continue on a selected basis for the next six months in cooperation with the Operations Department. The plant has decided to rewire (not replace) certain junction boxes. Contech will provide drawings as necessary. PEM.286 ABD00217098 Configuration and Programming Database development and entry is essentially complete. Henceforth, database work will become a maintenance function incorporating changes. Sequential control programming tasks were assigned in August. Selected tasks have begun. ABB/Taylor will release a new version of their system software in April, 1991. This will contain new programming features of significant benefit to the project team. Consequently, the team has decided to participate in a Beta test program. This affords Vista access to the software facilitating development during the next six months. Procurement The marshalling racks are complete and will be received at the plant the week of September 10th. The UPS system will be factory tested the week of September 17th. The standby generator was tested the week of August 20th and is ready for shipment to Aberdeen. Vista will purchase power distribution panels for the Phase 2 I/E work. This avoids delivery delays once the contract is awarded. Schedule The project has experienced a two week delay in receiving raised flooring materials. Some but not all of this time may be recovered. Remaining interior work awaits completion of the floor. Cost The fresh air stack/duct system will cost approximately $100,000 including engineering. The fresh air duct was not included in the original project scope of work in June 1989 and thus not budgeted. Presently, we anticipate a $60,000 under-run on the control building which should offset some of the stack cost. Unresolved Items The plant has identified the requirements for MOD 300 system maintenance once the equipment arrives in Aberdeen. This maintenance contract cost has been submitted for fiscal 1991 budget approval. PEM.286
