Subject: Paint for plastered surface of White House.
Gentlemen:
Your letter of May 3, 1923, addressed to the Bureau of Standards has been referred to this office, and in reply I have to inform you that the paint which is used for the exterior of the White House is com posed of white lead, French zinc and linseed oil in the following proportions: tfiite lead, 70$; white French zinc, 30$; with linseed oil used as a thinner.
