We have searched for the effects of VCM on the reproductive junction (or abilities) and fetal development of female workers occupationally exposed to VCM using retrospective and prospective epidemiology. The results showed that maternal exposure to VCM did not appear to influence on the involuntary infertility, pregnancy outcome, course of parturition and fetal development (including congenital abnormalities). But the incidence of the pregnant toxemia was found to be higher (27.9%) than that of the control group (16.3%) and general level of the population in China (1-15%). The number of platelet were lower than that of control group during their early pregnancies (P 0.05). terefore, special measures of labor protection should be taken for female workers cupationally exposed to VCM, especially during their pregnancies.
