The Industrial Hygiene Department will tell you what areas in your operations should be posted. Exposure limits are as follows: 1. 8 Hour TWA Limit The 8 hour time weighted average (TWA) airborne con centration of asbestos fibers to which any employee may be exposed shall not exceed: As of July 7, 1972 - 5 asbestos fibers/cc (Cubic centimeter) of air. As of July 1, 1976 - 2 asbestos fibers/cc of air. 2. Ceiling Limit An employee shall not be exposed at anytime to air borne concentrations of asbestos fibers in excess of 10 asbestos fibers/cc of air except when approved personal protective equipment is used. Signs are to be posted on all asbestos dust collector doors and at the entrance to any area containing excessive concen trations of airborne asbestos fibers. Signs may be ordered using the non-productive material code #78-357-4500, "SignSafety OSHA Asbestos Warning" using your normal purchasing channels.
