COREY P This certifies that the areas of the PCB/PCT Implementation Program for which I was responsible have been accomplished. This specifically refers to my assignment under Section 3, Page 4, and Section 3, Page 6. The only exceptions to the policy, which have been approved by the Managing Director, are the German Mines for Pydraul and Goodyear for Therminol FR. Following is the status for these two exceptions: A) GERMAN MINES All Pydrauls to the German Mines will cease no later than November 30, 1972. All distributors and customers have been notified. All final orders are to be placed before November 10, and no orders may be dispatched and invoiced after November 30. We are working with the German authorities on replace ment phosphate ester Pydrauls and one of their health authorities will be visiting us in the next several weeks to discuss PCB's'versus phosphate esters from a toxicity viewpoint. B) GOODYEAR The Special Undertaking with Goodyear expires nine months from February 8, 1972. Goodyear has technically chosen Therminol 66 from Monsanto as the fluid to replace Therminol FR-1. This was a technical decision reached by Goodyear following many meetings between Monsanto and Goodyear, and Goodyear and Dow. In response to Goodyear negotiations, Monsanto has offered to incinerate the returned Therminol FR-1 plus the flush fluid at Monsanto's expense. We have told Goodyear (10/6/72) that we will honor the following FR shipments if required; 2 X T/Ts and 1 X 8.8M gallon T/C provided the material leaves our plant before 11/7/72 and the T/C is kept on Goodyear's own plant site. Goodyear's plant is still on strike but mechanical preparations for conversion are proceeding. We anticipate it will be year's end, or early January before total conversion is completed. This does not preclude the possibility that Goodyear may still require auxiliary shipments of Therminol FR-1 during the conversion period.
