Best (Guest)(Technical Director), MCA CMA 015519 -jnKMIOLOGIC STUDY ON P VC VL-- The Secretary reported this study at Michigan Institute of industrial Health supported by 19 member and 2 non-member PVC pro- cers has been completed. Each company has been advised of findings conCerning its employees having cases or suspected cases of Raynaud's ohenomenon or occupational acroosteolysis. There is a strong suspicion that "polycleaning" operations might be a contributing cause in seven r more companies. A report of the work has been cleared to all sponsors. The Occupational Health Committee and participating company representatives have been invited to a Washington meeting May 6 in *hich the Institute staff can clarify any questions on this complex problem. There will be an opportunity for free and open discussion to extent that proprietary information is not disclosed. rnMBUSTION PRODUCTS - PVC The Secretary commented briefly on this study being con ducted by the Laboratory of Toxicology and Pathology at the HEW1s (ational Center for Urban and Industrial Health, Cincinnati, Ohio. Representatives of eight member companies and the MCA met"'vith the USPHS staff during July 1968 and in February 1969. Follow ing a full discussion of the problems concerned with pyrolysis pro ducts and the test program proposed, a number of resin compositions wre supplied the Laboratory. Results of pyrolysis tests were re viewed in detail in the February meeting. The work is being continued nd may include animal toxicity studies. When the Laboratory requires advice on additives, plasti cizers, and/or stabilizers as may be used in PVC compositions, other industrial representatives may be invited to participate. <>. V CMA 015520
