One reason for this is my recollection that these data may be used by others in presentati ns to regulatory agencies* Another reason is that the Mellon Fellowship may wish somewhat belatedly to publish the results of this study. As you will recognize when you read the report, certain unavoidable complications made this study somewhat less clean and precise than we would have wished for today, but which in 1947 did not create much excitement or distress in view of the apparent negative results of the study. You will also be aware of the fact that the residue of VCM in a PVC varies markedly with the age of the PVC and ind ed it is possible that the monomer content of this resin which normally would be expected to be less than 1.5 ppm may indeed have been much 1 ss.
