I'm not planning to become an expert in workmen's compensation, but I want to make sure that the plants are as uniform as possible in the interpretation of the asbestos and physicians guidelinesJ mainly in the areas of exposure, latency period, acceptance of responsibility, etc. I discussed this with your Safety Supervisors last week in Charleston, but I want to make sure you know that I need to review .these cases with you. I told the Safety Supervisors that I didn't need a copy of the workmen's compensation form, but I need to keep an up-to-date-account of all cases for management and, therefore, will need to receive this information. There is a lot of concern and discussion going on about the tabulation of these cases and the resulting effect on safety records and awards -- will keep you informed.
