A copy of the six point plan whioh was favorably received by the CMC is attached. The only Aroclors which, at this time, are considered biodegradable are Aroclor 1221 and a fractionally distilled Aroclor 1242 which does not contain the higher chlorinated isomers (5-6 chlorines and higher). We are referring to this distilled Aroclor as Aroclor 1242B. We are also considering a degradable Aroclor 1232. The expression "close the loop" refers to our program of educating the customer regarding the control and disposal of PCB's and providing a service for the return of contaminated Aroclors for recovery or eventual high temperature incineration and stack gas scrubbing. NCR has satisfactorily demonstrated HB-40 es an acceptable substitute for Aroclor 1242 in its European application and we are optimistic the mcno-isopropyl biphenyl (MIBP) will be acceptable for the U.S. appli cation. .
