Kinsell In my letter of August 30 I outlined to you our status concerning NPVLA recommendations on consumer interior paints. In this letter I indicated that our conventional interior trade consumer line meets NPVLA recommendations of less than 1 per cent lead content. There are certain products in our line, trade maintenance paints, that can possibly find their way through contractors to the interior of residential dwellings. Also, it is possible that certain of our products are now handled or have been handled in the past by outlets for conventional consumer interior products. We are particularly concerned with Ultra-Hide Eggshell Y-5600 line, and Ultra-Hide Alkyd Plat Y-5700 products. There are four colors in each line which contain more than 1 per cent lead. Kmsell (interior Lead Paint) -3 September 3, 1971 It is obvious that many of these products have a very low risk level of reaching the consumer for interior residential applications. it is possible, however, that government personnel could pick up some of these products in our stores. Certainly the Y-5600, Y-57G0, and y -4500 lines are really suspect. As soon as possible I would greatly appreciate recommendations as to our action on these three aforementioned materials Y-5600, y-5700, Y-4500.
