The interpretation of these results is a matter of some question, and in order to be of the greatest vise to you in arriving at a conclusion, I would suggest the advisability or your giving me as much detailed information as to the character of the plant and as to the specific occupational histories of the men as can be obtained. In the occupational histories it Is particularly Important to specify the character of the workmen's exposure, whether continuous or Intermittent, and the duration of the last continuous exposure. You will remember that we have used the lead content of the faeces as an indication of the magnitude of exposure to dusts. The examination of the results of this series of faecal samples shows that seven out of the ten samples are high as compared to normal individuals. On the other hand, only one sample contains more than one milligram of lead, a fact which indicates, tentatively at least, that the exposure to lead dusts to this group of men has been slight to moderate in magnitude. How if I understood the character of the exposure, I would be able to give you a more accurate interpretation of these findings. 0*5 CO As to the urine findings, we can properly 10 CO regard them as an indication of the amount of lead ab sorption which has taken place. Five of these results O are within the limits for normal individuals. Three C> others are at the upper limit for normals, and only two are above the normal level. If this is a representative hi group of men, it would seem to be justified to draw the conclusion that lead absorption has not occurred to any considerable extent in this group of men, and that their occupation is not a very hazardous one.
