Depart Sydney/ Drive to Helensburgh Arrive Metropolitan Mine/ Sign in/ Safety induction Presentation on Peabody Australian mines including Metropolitan Mine (morning tea provided) (45 mins)
The presentation will provide Mr Pruitt information on: the history of the mine (129 years old) the underground operations including the new series of panels currently being
mined the Mine's management of environmental impacts including mining under the
Sydney catchment authority (water source for Sydney), restoration works of the Rivulet and the mine's coexistence with the local community.
10.45 - 11.45 Surface tour including infrastructure (coal handling preparation plant and rail load out facility). Optional - light lunch can be provided
Note: Underground tour would add 3-4 hours to the visit including detailed induction, changing into underground uniform, fitting of personal protective equipment as well as need to shower and change at the end of the tour.
