Plauche' Environmental Upset Notification Guidelines Effectively immediately, PPG's Environmental Upset Notification Guideline becomes more demanding. Changes have been made due to a stringent new regulation which has been issued (5/20/86) and will be enforced by the Louisiana State Police. In the past, any releases which could escape plant boundaries had to be reported to the State Police. The new regulation continues to require this type of notification but, in addition, requires that this call be made within 30, minutes of discovering the incident. How does this new regulation affect you? This means that the Environmental Department needs to be notified immediately whenever any release (water or air) could even possibly have an impact off-site. Understandably, major upsets within a unit could make an immediate call to Environmental very difficult. For PPG to comply with the regulation, however, the Environm ntal Department must be notified. Attached is an updated Environmental Upset Notification Guideline. Please note changes on pages 3 and 4. Please pass this information on to the people in your area.
