Gentlemen *
Information has come to us through the Safety Department of Ethyl
Corporation that you are carrying on experimental work with field
ranges using gasoline as a fuel. For this reason I am writing to
know whether the use of leaded gasoline as a fuel is contemplated
in your experimental program, and if so, whether experimental blends
of gasoline with "Ethyl" antiknock compound are to be made, and
v
also to be certain that you are familiar with the necessity fbr -
special regulations governing the handling of tetraethyl lead in
such instances. There may also be some hygienic problem in connection
with the burning of leaded fuel or the disposition of the filters. ;j
We have had experience with all phases of this problem with respect' to safety, and have responsibility in dealing with the safe handling/
of tetraethyl lead fluid, and it may be that we can offer some
he1pful advice.
Very truly yours.
