Vincent - 514/109 "i, n.-t-,L March 19, 1987 EH&TS _ Ar,il Industrial Hygiene Asbestos Exposure Monitoring Attached are the results of the Asbestos exposure monitoring performed on insulators in the South Charleston Plant, Building 706. They were monitored over a 3 day period while using glove bags to remove asbestos from several lines, horizontal and vertical. Employees were equipped with 2 pair of coveralls, no street clothes, boots, gloves, head cover and either an A0R57A or Willson R12 Half-face, HEPA filter, respirator. The employees showered each day, before leaving the plant. The monitoring results indicate that the exposure levels were well below the 0.1 fiber/cc Action Level, established by OSHA for an 8-hour workday (TWA8). We feel that the glove bag method is a very good way of controlling airborne fibers. However, we must be sure that the procedure is followed closely by each insulator using a Glove Bag. Please inform J. R. Chandler, R. E. Coyner and 5. M. Barker of their exposure monitoring results, as soon as possible. Have them sign and date this report and return to M. A.
