Dear Mr. Brown: Thank you very much for your letter of April 28th concerning the impending report upon Dr. Gardner's asbestos dust experiments. I note that you, Mr. Rohrbach and I all favor a review of the report by a small committee prior to its being released to the entire group. I have never actually received a list of the names of the as bestos textile manufacturing companies who are the sponsors of Dr. Gardner's experiments, but I am of the opinion that there are several member companies of the Asbestos Textile Institute who are not amongst the sponsors of Dr. Gardner's experiments. If I am correct in this understanding, and also based upon an impression which I gained at a meeting of the Asbestos Textile Institute held not so long ago at New Brunswick, N. J., I think it might be better not to have the report reviewed, in the first instance, by a small committee of the A.T.L; in other words, my feeling is that it would be better initially to select a small committee of, say, three or four representatives of the original sponsors to study and give us their view of the report.
