I Just had a telephone meBBage from Don Blerwert relative to our inquiry as to whether we could lend Carbide & Carbon some vinyl chloride while shipments were Blow and get it back sometime early in 1957 when we will need it. Don stated he had gotten informa tion from Carbide that they did not want any vinyl chloride at the present time, so this chance of get ting rid of vinyl is gone for the present. Evidently, their market is off, as well as ours. Don also told me that their polymerization facilities would be slowed down during the months of June and July, and possibly start picking up speed in August. This means we can look for a pretty slow period in the vinyl plant for the next 2-1/2 months. This leaves only one alternative and that is for the Sales Department to get out and sell vinyl chloride so as to enable the plant to run at a greater speed. I think this is a challenge to the Sales Department to see what it can do.
