Overman - Toledo Murphy - Toledo Ladd - New York Johnson - New York Vyverberg - New York Winnert - New York On October 5 1966 Wayne Johnson wrote to you describing an asbestosis claim filed in Massachusetts Mr. Ted Brody of the New England Insulation Company brought this to Wayne's attention stating that Dr. Harriet Hardy of M.I.T. had become interested in the case It was alleged that the claimant had handled and cut Kaylo insulations for a number of years and had acquired asbestosis I have called and talked to Mr. Brody who had relatively little information about the claim or claimant except that his disease had been diagnosed _ as asbestosis and that Dr. Hardy was inquiring about the type of asbestos used in our products Mr. Brody's primary interest seamed to be in acquiring more in- formation about the health hazards incurred by insulation workers His interest stems from the fact that he has recently been elected chairman of the Health and Safety Committee of the I.D.C.N.A. and he and this or- ganization propose to establish a very active health and He has been in touch with Manville representatives safety program and several of our sales people and was hopeful of setting a meeting to discuss health problems in the contracting field before the first of the year I explained that I believed that such a meeting could be established with no difficulty Mr. Brody stated that thing more for us to do at this Johnson to determine the amount he did not believe that there was anytime as he said he would contact Mr. and type of asbestos used in our Kaylo ae There is no question that Dr. Hardy or any other interested ' individual could determine answers to both questions by analysis of our product Consequently it would seem advisable to provide this informa- tion to either Mr. Brody or Dr. Hardy Again I would like to recommend that we seriously consider labeling our Kaylo products in a manner similar to that now being done by the M Corporation on their containing calcium silicate products PHE JSC F.
