They were concerned about our #7165 Respirator and its use at this plant. Maybe we can explain a feature of our respirator to help the fact that this respirator is designed to be used until the breathing becomes difficult and not necessarily discarded after a single use. The #7165 Disposable Res pirator is the only one of its type that has an inhalation and exhalation valve system. This feature allows clean cool air to be inhaled with each breath. This respirator is also the only one of its type that is approved for Toxic Dusts. After we received the call from Mr. Carpenter relative to your call to Pat Gussey at NIOSH in Morgantown, we made arrangements to talk to Miss Gussey. Our Mr. Matheson contacted her at the A. I. H. A. Convention in St. Paul, Minnesota. The information that I received from Mr. Matheson today was that Miss Gussey had reconsidered her statement to you that "the #7165 Welsh res pirator should be discarded after.a single use". She will not be in Morgan town until Monday, June 9. Will you please give her a call to verify the fact that this #7165 Welsh Respirator should not be discarded after a single use. D. S.
