The unannounced inspection was conducted by Pamela Storm who possesses EPA inspector credentials to conduct CAA NESHAP asbestos inspections and Tony Spann. Mr. Spann also possesses EPA inspector credentials and was participating in this inspection to meet training requirements to conduct CAA NESHAP asbestos inspections. The facility is undergoing interior renovations to convert the existing space into a nail salon. Permit #RIF2111042 was issued by the City of Canton on January 26, 2022, for renovations to the facility to become Luxury Nail Spa. Renovations had been ongoing at the time of this inspection. The purpose of the inspection was to determine compliance with the CAA NESHAP Asbestos Standard and the regulations promulgated at 40 CFR Part 61, Subpart M, for the renovation activity conducted pursuant to this permit. The EPA Region 4 CAA NESHAP asbestos program targets facilities for inspection located in the State of Georgia based on tips/complaints; permits issued on a local level; and demolition and/or renovation/abatement notices sent to the State. This inspection was conducted based on the previously mentioned permit. Facility Information The facility is being converted into a nail salon. Inspection Inspection Although renovations had been ongoing at the facility, no one was working at the site at the time of this inspection. Inspectors observed through the facility's windows that the flooring had been completely removed from the facility. The walls and ceilings had been partially removed. The Interior Finish Permit previously mentioned (RIF2111-042) was hanging in the window. The permit indicates that Bakop Construction applied for the permit. Conclusion The inspectors will follow up with the owners/operators of the facility and the renovation activity, as deemed appropriate, to obtain information and necessary paperwork related to this renovation activity. This information will include, but not necessarily be limited to, copies of asbestos inspection reports, renovation notifications, and waste shipment records for the facility.
