September 28, 1987 EM&TS - HS&EA Industrial Hygiene Asbestos Exposure Monitorina i Attached are the results of the asbestos exposure monitoring for two days on insulators at the Institute Plant while removing asbestos from steam and product lines in the pit and trench at building 25 near the #2 dock. An enclosure wasn't used because of line steam and product lines. The area was barricaded and amended water was used throughout the abatement process. All five personal exposure samples were below the 0.2 fiber/cc permissible exposure standard per 0SHA 29CFR 1926.58 and also were below the 0.1 fiber/cc action level per the same standard. Employees wore no street clothes, two pair of coveralls, headcovers, boots, gloves and A0 R57-A HEPA half-face cartridge respirators. They showered before meals and at the end of the workday before leaving plant. Please inform B. J. Agosti, P. K. Snodgrass, C. B. Clendenin and S. R. Erskine of their exposure monitoring results as soon as possible. Have them sign and date this report and return it to M. A. Patel at Building 701-330.
