Loder Ethyl Gasoline Corporation Chrysler Building New York City New York Dear Mr. Loder: I am sending you herewith a copy of a letter which I received this morning, together with a copy of a reply which I have made to Dr. Bedell, -^s you will see, this reply is non-committal but I did not feel that I could show Dr. Bedell the discourtesy of neglecting some kind of reply. You will note in the first paragraph of Dr. Bedell's letter, reference to my suggestion that some settlement could oe mshe without litigation. For obvious reasons I did what I could to see that the matter should be settled without litigation, and I assured Dr. Bedell that I would do so. I had every reason to believe at that time that this could be done, and that, indeed, any sensible industrial organization would wish to make 3uch a settlement in fairness to everybody.
