SUBJECT: General observations and findings while conducting lead in air samplings with Mr. C. S. Hellings on Jan. 22, 23, and 24, 1974.
REFERENCE:
Test #1 - Ball Mill Operator (Hollins)
The operator performed his normal duties. Very heavy lead dust was observed when the vibrator was used.
Total testing time - 6 hrs., 28 min. Flow rate 1.5 liters per min. Date; 1/22/74
Test #2 - 810 Bagger Operator (Lawery)
Normal duties were performed, however, for about two hours the operator was shoveling large quantities of 810 material that accumulated under the drier, back into the elevator. Extremely large quantities of lead dust were generated.
Total testing time - 6 hrs., 35 min. Flow rate - 0.7 liters per min. Oate: 1/22/74
Test #3 - Maintenance (Carite)
The kiln had to be repaired due to the breakdown, and lead dust was visible in the working area.
Total testing time - 5 hrs., 20 min. Flow rate - 1.5 liters per min. Date: 1/23/74

This operator worked on 621 in the morning and as a kiln operator in the afternoon, performing his normal duties.
Total testing time - 5 hrs. , 10 min. Flow rate - 0.5 1iters per min. Date: 1/23/74
Test #5 - 908 Operation (Hawkins)
The operator performed his normal duties including grinding of 908. While the dried material was being transferred from pans into the elevator hopper, a large quantity of lead dust escaped into the working area.
Total testing time - 4 hrs., 23 min. Flow rate - 0.6 liters per min. Date: 1/24/74
Test #6 - Foreman, including Kiln Operation (Leake)
C. Leake performed his normal duties as a foreman, and also assumed responsibility for the operation of the kiln and spending one hour of his time loading a truck. He also was required to clean a suction pipe at the South End of the kiln generating a very heavy lead dust.
Total testing time - 4 hrs., 20 min. Flow rate - 1.5 liters per min. Date: 1/24/74
