Miss Margaret S. Perry, Editor, Journal of Industrial Hygiene and Toxicology, Harvard S^ool of Public Health, 55 Shattuck Street, Boston, Massachusetts-
. Dear Miss Perrys
Thanks for your letter of October 8, concerning the six ar ticles. All of these vere given in approximately the form in which they vere furnished to you at the April 1942 meeting of the American Industrial Hygiene Association, and it is grati fying to get them Into print, since it was our intention to make available as much useful information as possible in view of the difficulties of industry engaged in war production.
As; to the respective papers,
(a) I agree that the discussion of analytical techniques in Mr. Buxell^s paper should be deleted, and I shall take the respon sibility for so deciding if Mr- Buxell should raise some later objection. I think he will have no objection.
(b) The paper of 'Di?'. Panders makes no attempt to cover the en tire subject or to review the literature completely. It limits itself to certain aspects of the problem largely because of the tips given to his presentation. I hardly think either he or the Journal "will be criticised on that account, but if you think it necessary to mend this fault,It can be done. Unfortunately, Dr;. Sanders is away on some urgent work, and some delay will be occasioned by the necessity of adding references together with some discussion of them. I hope, therefore, you can let this pass. As to the charts, there is the same problem of delay, and ifI you can find your way clear to include them all, the Labora tory will see that the cost, above that which you consider rea sonable , will be defrayed. I realize your problem there. I think all of the figures will help the presentation, and there fore, I am wlliihg that we pay for them.
I apologize for the form in which Dreessen's paper wa3 sent. It was all I had been able to obtain. If you will return it to me, we will retype it as you wish, since otherwise there will be undue delay. If you wish to make editorial notes on it or cor rections , do so and we shall return it corrected.
Sincerely yours.
