This report will place on record the results of tests wherein DS-17456 MASAFA" was evaluated against two experimental flooding inhibitors in two brushing products* The two experi mental inhibitors were coded PVM-F-95236, and FVM-P-95239 and were based on silicone oils*.
The brushing products involved were as followst
(a) P-69-P-93562 which consisted of 69-661 White Semi Gloss tinted to a light gray with 33-205 Black* This finish flooded white,
(b) 67-662 Quaker Brown, plant batch P-41207, This finish flooded black.
Each inhibitor was tested at concentrations of 0.05$, 0*1$, 0*2$, 0.5$} 1,0$ and 2,0$ by weight in each of these finishes. Resultant products were investigated from the stand point of flooding resistance when applied by brushing and flow ing, with and without sags.
The results indicated the followings
{a) Flooding was absent in all cases, including the con trol, where the respective finishes were applied by flowing, except where sags were present. At sag points, flooding was encountered in all cases,
(b) The use of ,fASAFAw or either of the two experimental inhibitors made no improvement in the flooding characteristics of either finish, when application was made by brushing. Again flooding was encountered at all sags.
Quite severe ^cratering was encountered in flow outs of 67-662 containing FVM-F-95236, and f?crateringt? to a lesser
degree in finishes containing PVMP-95239 This indicates that these inhibitors may not be entirely compatible with the finishes evaluated0
