February 19, 1951 Dr. Graham Edgar Ethyl Corporation 100 Park Avenue New York City 17 Dear Graham: In an inhalation experiment involving human exposure to lead oxide which we are conducting, we prepare particulate lead oxide by burning EEL vapor and propane in air. We obtain the TEL vapor by passing air over a small amount of T'EL contained in a flask. The flask is kept in the dark but is at room temperature. After a period of days there i3 evidence of progressive decomposition which we would prefer to prevent if possible. We wonder if the inhibitors used in 'ETHYL" fluid would retard the decomposition or if you would suggest some other means of dealing with this problem. We would like to have your advice or your recommendations to whom we should turn to for help on this. If an appropriate Inhibitor is availably we would like to have some of it and instructions for its use, i.e. the recommended concentations, etc. We need only a very small quantity.
