Scott--
Thank you for your time over the phone yesterday. Please know we really appreciate your help.
Representatives of the Sites Reservoir Joint Power Authority (JPA) and HDR Engineering will be in Washington, DC on Tuesday, March 28, and would like the opportunity to meet and discuss the efforts of the JPA to promote the project as well as the project benefits.
Meeting participants include:
Kim Dolbow Vann, Colusa County Supervisor, Chair Fritz Durst, Reclamation District 108, Vice-Chair Jim Watson, Sites Reservoir JPA General Manager Keith Dunn, Sites Reservoir legislative affairs Jason Fanselau, HDR Engineering Robert Boling, HDR Engineering
Sites Reservoir is designed to be a large offstream reservoir located west of Colusa in the Sacramento Valley of Northern California. It would collect winter flood flows from the Sacramento River, diverting the water upstream of the Sacramento San Joaquin River Delta and pumping it into an artificial lake. The estimated water yield would be between 470,000 to 640,000 acre feet per year.
The reservoir would be operated as part of the California State Water Project and is projected to cost between $2.3 3.2 billion. According to a 2013 Bureau of Reclamation study, it would provide economic benefits of between $248.8 276.2 million per year, while annual operating costs would be in the range of $10 20 million.
Since the California Department of Water Resources received an approval to study water storage north of the delta in 1996, more than $52 million has been spent on studies.
