Mr. Rodger Fulco, LANXESS Corporation, was present at the time of the inspection. The inspection was conducted by the authority of the Clean Water Act (CWA) to determine compliance with Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations. There were no other federal, state, or local agency representatives present at the time of the inspection. FACILITY DESCRIPTION EPA conducted an inspection on the LANXESS Corporation - West Plant / SWD 10 M injection well in response to a historic release and inspection site from pre-2019. The SWD 10 M is a Class II injection well utilized for the disposal of tail brine. The injection well was plugged 01/13/2023. Section II - OBSERVATIONS I observed the location where the disposal well had been located, see Appendix 1 (Photograph Log), see Photo No. 1. For additional GPS location and photo metadata, see Appendix 1. I observed the area of the intermittent receiving stream, an unnamed tributary (UT) of Garner Creek, see Photo No. 2. I observed the shutoff valve for the plugged well and the transmission line, see Photo No. 3. Section III - AREAS OF CONCERN A closing conference was held with Mr. Rodger Fulco with LANXESS Corporation during the inspection. Mr. Fulco explained that LANXESS Corporation had plugged the disposal well in January 2023. There were no areas of concern at the time of the inspection. Section IV - FOLLOW UP There were no areas of concern during the inspection, and a follow-up is not required at this time.
