Samples collecteadttestinitiatihoand measuredvalues thatrangedfrom 52 to71% of nominalvalues.After22 hoursofmbdn& theprimarystocksolutiownas measuredtobe 70 to71% ofnominaland was probablyatdw limiotf solubiliitnyfilteresdaltwaterT.he recoverieisntheothertestconcentrationwse= similabrecausetheywereproportionadldutlonsoftheprimary stock.Measuredvaluesforsamplestakenat49 hoursrangedfrom 44 to71% ofnominal.Measuredvaluesfor samplesW= at96 hoursrangedfrom 36 to 71% ofnomind. CONCLUSIONS
The 96-hourLC50 valueforsaltwatemrysidsmq)osedtoPFOS was 3.6mg &i./L The 95% confidence -limitwsere 3.0and4.6mg &i./La,nd theslopeoffficoncmtration-responcsuervewas 4.5. The 96-hourno mortalitcyoncentratioand theNOEC were 1.1mg &iJL.

PURPOSE The purpose ofthisstudyistodeterminetheacuteeffectosf a testsubstanceon thesaltwater mysid (Mysidopsisbahia)duringa 96-hourexposureperiodunder statitcestconditions.
EXPERIMENTAL
DESIGN
Saltwatermysids willbe exposed toa geometricseriesof atleastfivetestconcentrationasnd a
negative(dilutiownater)controlfor96 hours.Two replicatteestchambers willbe mmntained ineach
treatmmt and controlgroup,with 10 mysids m eachchamber fora totalof 20 mysids per testconcentra-
tion.
NomilW testconcentrationwsillbe selectedinconsultatiownith theSponsor,and Vnu be based upon theresultsof exploratoryrange-findintgoxicitydata,known toxicitydata,physical/chemical propertiesof the testsubstanceor otherrelevantinformatiorlTargetconcentrationnseed not exceed 1000 mgtl -orthesolubilitlyimitofthetestsubstanceinwater(whicheverislower).Generally,each testsubstanceconcentratiounsed in the definitivteestwillbe at least60% of the next higher concentratiounnlessinformationconcerningtheconcentration-effeccutrveindicatetshata diffm-ent dilutiofnactorwould be more appropriate.Water samples from each testchamber willbe collectedat specifieidntervalfsoranalysisof the testsubstance.Resultsof analyseswillbe used to calculatemean measured testconcentrations.
