For the first time, in one place, we have a listing of nearly 50 companies that make vinyl products for the growing "green" marketplace. When it is printed, the brochure will look very similar to the "Directory of Companies Involved in the Recycling of Vinyl (PVC) Plastics." To give you a preview of what the brochure will contain. I've enclosed the front section that summarizes all of the products/companies listed. Each VI member company will automatically receive 100 complimentary copies of the directory. However, I hope your company will want to order additional quantities for Your sales staff. The directory will be a useful piece for them to give to their purchasing contacts at customer companies. (Your customers may want copies to give to their purchasing contacts as well.) Your government/community relations staff. On July 28, 1992 che Federal Trade Commission (FTC) announced guide lines for environmental marketing claims. The guidelines are recommenda tions, not enforceable regulations. They are intended to reduce consumer confu sion and prevent false or misleading use of common environmental terms. The FTC's definition of "recycled content" is: materials that have been recovered or diverted from the solid waste stream, either during the manufacturing process (pre-consumer) or after consumer waste (post-consumer). In this directory, "post-industrial" refers to vinyl scrap produced from manufacturing processes in which the end product is not for consumer use. The companies listed in this directory have voluntarily provided the pre-consumer, post-consumer or post-industrial content of their products. The Vinyl Institute supports the FTC's guidelines.
