I have read the minutes of the March 28, 1977 meetinq and it appears that members of the committee also feel that this type of information would be extremely useful. As I mentioned during our meeting government regulatory agencies would most likely give consideration to industry work practices procedures when revising any asbestos regu lations pertaining to the friction materials industry. If the friction materials industry takes the initiative and the support of interested unions, then those procedures could become the basis for a workable regulation. To start this program, I would like to suggest that the Asbestos Study Committee meet and review the audio/visual program and accompanying publications recently developed by the Asbestos Cement Pipe Producers Association. These programs are receiving wide distribution and will hopefully disseminate the facts about asbestos cement pipe and health to all interested parties. A similar program might be the answer to many of the problems facing the friction materials industry. I have attached copies of the two brochures that accompany the audio/visual program. I would be glad to shov; this program at the next committee meeting and discuss this subject further. In another vein, we discussed the subject of handling report ers. .
