The Task Force, which includes representation from both ARMA and NRCA, is meeting January 15, and they will report on their discussion at the BOR and Residential Roofing Committee' Meetings. Please review this latest draft for that dis cussion. The most recent revisions or additions can be found easily by looking for marginal notations or hand-printed additions to the text.I

2. In Group H Occupancies over 15,000 square feet in single floorarea. For requirements' on smoke end beat venting in buildings with high-piled combustible stock, see the Fire Code.
(b) Mixed Occupancies. Venting facilities shall be installed m buildings of mixed occupancy on the basis ofthe individual occupancy involved.
(c) Types of Vents. Vents shall be fixed in ibe open position or shall open automatically in the event of fire and may consist of skylights, exterior wall windows orother openings leading directly to the exteriorofthe building. Vents
shall be atornearthehighest devxtion oftheceiling and in nocase kmerdun the upperoocthirdofthesmokecunaitt. Where plainglassis used, provisionshall be made to protect die occupants from glass breakage. In no case shall vents be located closerthan 20 feet to an adjoining property tine.
(d) Releasing Devices. Releasing devices for aitonuhcally opening vents shall be activated by temperature. The temperature-releasing device shall be operated normally at a maximum temperature of 165*E; special circumstances warranting higher releasing temperawres may be approved by the building offi cial. Nonconrodiblematerials shall be used for hinges, lafebes and related details to prevent sticking and consequent failure toopen.
(e) Size and Spacing of Vents. 1. Effective venting area. The effective venting area is the minimum cress-sectional area through winch the ha gases mustpassenroutetoalmospbere. Tbeeffectiveventtngareashxllbenotlessthan 16 square feet with no dimension less than 2 feet.
2. Spacing. The maximum center-to-centcr spacing between vents within the building shall be:
A. InGroup B Occupancies: 120 feet. B. In Group HOccupancies: 100 feet.
3. Venting ratios. The following ratios ofeffective area of vent openings to floor areas shall be:
A. In Group B Occupancies: 1:100. B. In Group H Occupancies: 1:50.
(0 Curtain Boards. 1. General.Cuminboards shall be providedtosubdivide a vented building in accordance with (he provisions ofthis subsectioa.
2. Construction. Curtainboards shall be sheet metal, asbestos board, lath and plaster, gypsum wallboard or other approved materials which provide equivalent performance.
3. Location and depth. Curtainboards shall extend down from the ceiling for
a minimum depth of6 feet but need not extend closer than 8 feet to the floor. In
Group H Occupancies, theminimum depth shall be 12 feet except that it need ox
be closer than 8 feet to the Boon provided the curtain is not less than 6 feet in
depth.

4. Spacing. Thedistance between curtain boards shallnot exceed250feetand the curtained area shall be limited to 50,000 square feet. In Group H Occupan cies. the distance between curtain boards shall not exceed 100 feet and the curtained area shall be limited to 15.000 square feet.
