The Research Coordinators recom mend that this document be sent to the entire Technical Panel and, in accord with their recommendations, your copy is enclosed. Dr. C, H. Tamburro has submitted the proposal for the 19791980 research program in four parts-. I. Proposed Component Studies Listed under "Proposed Titles" II. Budget Proposal III. Addendum (Additional Technical Proposals) IV. Budget for Additional Technical Proposals As you know, the Vinyl Chloride Technical Panel made a tentative three-year commitment to support the overall University of Louisville research program with the option of electing to continue sponsorship on a yearly basis. Should it be the intention of the sponsoring companies to continue the University of Louisville research for the third year, MCA should be in a position to take definitive action prior to the expiration of the 1977-1978 research agreement. Therefore, in an effort directed toward eliminating the costly interruption of this program, as occurred prior to achieving sufficient CMA 002721 2- - commitment for the continuation of the 1977-1978 research, each Panel member is being sent the enclosed expression of interest ballot. From the results of this balloting, MCA can secure an assessment of potential sponsorship and thereby have the commit ment form which will be sent to the Management Contacts properly reflect the intended support of the 1979-1980 research program. Accordingly, will you secure at the earliest possible time, certainly no later than November 1, 1978, your company's inten tion with respect to sponsorship of the University of Louisville studies and so indicate in the enclosed ballot. Members of the Technical Panel representing companies cur rently sponsoring research at the University of Louisville, voted affirmatively that the transcripts of research reviews presented to the sponsors during the June 14, 1978 meeting at the University of Louisville be sent to Panel members of non-sponsoring companies. The transcripts were transmitted to non-sponsoring companies with the recommendation that consideration be given to their support of the 1979-1980 program. Therefore, there exists the possibility that your company's pro rata share might be reduced should increased support be forthcoming as a result of research results being made available to companies not currently funding this research.
