ANALYSES The foregoing figures of November 30, 1959 and I960 reflect the consolidat~ ed position of Cook Paint 4 Varnish Co. (Inc.) and its subsidiary, however the subsidiary was liquidated in 1961. The subsidiary, Cook Broadcasting Co., sold ail of its assets (except cash and receivables) ss of August 27, 1961 and subsequently distributing the remaining assets to Cook Paint A Varnish Co. in complete liquidation. Gross broadcasting income of $2,022,015 (included in Other Income figure), net income of $202,478 and special credit cf $6,390,967 applicable to the subsidiary are includ ed in the statements of Income and earned surplus of the company for the fiscal year ending November 30, 1961. Annual sales increased steadily for many years, reaching a peak during 1959. The sales decrease ?n 196! was reported due primarily to a decrease in industrial sales covering product finishing, with all consumer! sales equalling I960. Gross income of the broadcasting subsidiary decreased from $3,000,649 to $2,022,015., however this represented only nine months of operations in the most recent fiscal year. . To assist in financing peak seasonal summer operations, the company has used short term bank loans obtained on straight corporate note paper, aggregating in the seven figures. In addition, long-term financing has been used to provide adequate capital for expansion of factory warehouse and retail stores facilities of the parent company :;nd instruction of a new transmitter for the subsidiary. With the assistance of this financing program, sufficient funds have been available for meeting all obligations within regular terms. Long-Term Liabilities: Long-term debt in amount of $2,100,000 was paid in full during fiscal year ending November 30, 196! with the proceeds from the sale of Cook Broad casting Co. 2-'2-" .00*0!.4 COOK PAINT & VARNISH COMPANY (INC.) 14th 4 KNOX STREET NOR1H KANSAS CITY 16 MO.
