This pamphlet published by Jolms-Minvillo is made available to anyone handling J-K Asbestos Fiber. It basically states the safe practices that J-M enforces in all their plants. It is well written vrithout using scare tactics, and I would recommend that each Plant Manager study it carefully and apply the recommendations to the handling of Asbestos products in their respective plants. This department recently received, information to the effect that the American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists has races- mended to all Federal agencies that tho Threshold Limit fer Asbestos be reduced from tho present limit cf 12 fibers per milliliter create: then 5 sicrons in length to 5 fibers per milliliter. This drastic .reduction would lower the impieger method cf 2 millions cf particles v per cubic foot of air to less than 1, and makc'impiagcr netbeds of counting dust airiest impossible. This new vacciniasduties. will bo in effect very shortly under the vralsh-Hcalcy Act and other Federal and State regulations, - .The responsibility of meeting Threshold Limits of eirposurc to any dust is the responsibility of the employer. .Recently `Robert D. GIde Director cf the Office of Occupational Safety, U. S. Department of Tnbcr, said - KZ* .ill be lei t to individual cer.parics to hire their a e:mimaaaag ana consulting esperts, but the Fcceial Cremains nil ' *e in securin': corrective measured whenever possible. * wa r i.
