PITTSBURGH OFFICE - 23 / February 27, 1973 RE: PROTECTION AGAINST ASBESTOS EXPOSURE At the Task Force Meeting in February, the Task Force recommended that the Smelting Division establish a centralized coordination to establish procedures for all s.melting plants on the use of materials containing asbestos. As you know, this basic responsi bility now lies in our operating people's responsibilities for the safety of their employees. The Task Force felt, and I believe rightfully so, that we should have uniform procedures established and followed by all of our smelting plants. Could I have your opinions on the ways and means of establishing such centralized procedures. Your help will be greatly appreciated. R. D.
