1 integral drafthood-prevents excessive chimney updrafts or downdrafts from affecting proper combustion. Located at rear of jacket enclosure, giving G-4 a low, overall height of only 47'/;
2 jacket--encloses flue canopy, manifold and con trols. Heavy, 20-gauge steel jacket styled wilh small radius corners and sprayed with distmc tive Forge Red hammer finish.
3 manual shutoff valve--controls mam gas supply to burners.
4 pilot filter--prevents dirt, gum or other foreign matter from clogging pilot tube or pilot (Not supplied for LP-gas.)
c resetting low water cutoff--or steam boilers; electrically shuts off mam gas supply to burners if boiler wafer reaches low point. Located within jacket enclosure.
E cleanout plates--provide ready access for clean ing boiler flue surfaces. Entire boiler may be cleaned from the front.
7 cleanout access panel--quickly snaps on and off to allow access to boiler sections without removing jacket
8 safety valve-prevents steam pressure from ex ceeding maximum safety requirements. Sup plied as regular equipment on all steam boilers
9 vestibule vent-permits unrestricted air circu lation around controls located in front vestibule of boiler jacket.
10 insulation--heavy layer of fiberglass insulation effectively prevents excessive heat loss through jacket-helps save fuel and keeps jacket cool to touch. Insulation cemented permanently to inside of boiler jacket at factory.
11 burners--precision made and factory tested to assure quiet, efficient operation with all gases. Cast iron, raised rib, drilled port burners sup plied for natural gas. Cleanable ribbon burners standard equipment for all other gases.
12 venturi mixer tube-equipped with adjustable air shutter--provides correct gas-air mixture for efficient combustion.
13 automatic pilot switch-prevents flow of gas to mam burners if pilot goes out Special control for 100% shut-off supplied for LP-Gas and LP-Gas Air mixtures (525-1400 Btu).
14 sections-constructed ol long-lasting cast iron Over 600 pinlike projections stud each flue sur face to extract maximum heat from rising flue gases. End sections designed with extended base to form supporting legs of boiler
15 manifold--completely factory assembled and rigidly fastened to boiler by cast iron clamps Entire manifold enclosed by boiler jacket
16 gas pressure regulator-maintams uniform gas pressure to mam burners. Gas pressure regulator not required for LP-Gas
17 automatic gas valve-automatic diaphragm type. Electrically operated and A.G.A. listed for all gases Can be manually operated during current failures and automatically returns to electrical operation upon resumption of current
18 front jacket panel--easily removed by turning chrome-plated handles Permils access to bur ners boiler sections and all controls within jacket Carefully fitted to close flush with front
The American-Standard G-4 Boiler is approved by the Amer^J ican Gas Association for all gases and is constructed to tlj^B] specifications of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.

6tadard for
. . . automatic heating in all type buildings
Tops ill design from its durable. grav east iron sections to its moderniy styled jacket, the new G-4 gas boiler lit American-Standard is ideally suited for larger homes, apartments, schools, churches and smaller commercial establishments such as stores or restaurants. Only 47*.A" high, the G-4 takes up surprising!) little space. All major components and controls, including the gas manifold and pressure regulator, are located within the boiler jacket, thus presenting a clean, streamlined appearance. The jacket itself is stvled with modern, small radius corners and sprat ed with Americaii-Staudard's east-to-clean Forge Red finish.
. . . simplicity of installation and service
Installation of the (7-4 is simplified ht extending the base of the end sections to form the legs of the boiler, eliminating the necessity of separate end or center supporting legs. The center boiler sections are merely suspended between the two end sections and secured with tie rods. And to protect the finish of the jacket, all steam or water piping can be installed before the jacket is assembled. For your convenience, both right and left end panels are identical for all G-4 boiler sizes. Whenever service is necessarv. such as cleaning the flue surfaces, easily removed access panels facilitate maintenance. For example, by removing the cleanout access panel, all flue surfaces may be cleaned from the front of the boiler without removing the boiler jacket.
. . . generous heat --at low cost
Based on the design principle of multiple sections with a burner for each flue passage, G-4 boilers are available with A.G.A. inputs of LbO.OOO Btu to 600.00(1 Btu per hour. By simply varying the number of center sections, it is possible to size these boilers almost exactly to each heating requirement, eliminating the fuel waste and initial expense of an oversized boiler. Constructed ol durable cast iron to ASM!', specifications. each boiler section featuies a pin-type ex tended surface to add many square inches of additional heat absorbing area to otherwise compart flue surfaces. Over 601) pinlike projections stud each center section to extinct the greatest possible amount of heat from hot Hue gases.
