From the information that you have given me, it is quite difficult to determine what is the most likely cause of his illness, indeed, I am afraid it would be ne cessary f or me to have complete information from your son's physician before 1 could arrive at any conclusion. As an alternate to obtaining such information, it might be better if I -were to see him, examine him, and make a thorough stu dy of his case, i should be entirely willing to do this at no expense to you or your son beyond that incurred in traveling to Cincinnati and remaining here until the exa mination can be completed. This will require two or three days. X make this suggestion for t he reason that we have carefully investigated cases of all kinds that have arisen under conditions in which exposure to tetraethyl lead has been suspected. I think I should point out to you at the outset that the condition that you have described does not resemble tetra ethyl lead poisoning in any way. Moreover, it may relieve your mind considerably to know that tetraethyl lead poi soning has never been known to occur under the conditions of the employment in which your son has been engaged. Indeed, it is not to be expected that it would ever occur, since the handling of leaded gasoline is in no wise a hazardous occupation. We have been studying this -problem field for something more than fifteen years, and I am quite sure that there is no possibility of the development of lead poisoning from this cause. For years he has been employed in a garage, and several months ago developed sore mouth and throat, continual slight temperature, and a deficiency in the white corpuscle count. His Doctor has recently been giving injections, and now has advised that the boy seek some specialist in Philadelphia, and I expect that he will come home on Sunday the I4th.~ To me it seems foolish to proceed without advice from one expert in the field.
