Page hD-1 C. J. Berg Chicago June 1, 19&. CLASS UOOO The materials within the UOOO Group are phthalate and related esters. They contain more than trivial amounts of polyester, and are unmodified by more than insignificant quantities of other resin forming materials. Acids commonly used, other than phthalic, in clude sebacic, succinic, maleic, diglycolic, petrex etc. The last two numbers of general classified numbers within this group indicate the approximate % oil content of the resin. -------- 0007-PMC-000000282 Page itQ-2' June 1, 195U Humber (U0P2) (l*0C2) (U0P1) (1*0D2) (3108) (5ioi) (liOcU) (1*0A1) (1<0C16) (i*ocn) (3107 (l*oci5) (1*0C12) (2662) (l*oc5) (U0C13) (1*0N1) (Uo pU) (U0D3) (I*0C6) - (&0C?8) C^ta?3) (1*012) Material % Oil Resin Cellolyn $02 _ Coconut, Duraplex ND-77B 33 Coconut Duraplex ND-78 33 Coconut Plaskon 3105 31* Coconut 3l Laurie Glyc-Phth. % P.A. They impart excellent gloss when used in a ratio of ap proximately one part resin to one part nitrocellulose. (U0C11) is a restricted item and (3107) or (hOCl5) should be used in its place whenever possible. (5ioi) Also used in Automotive finishes, have superior color re (UX16) tention and are therefore used in whites and light colors. (3108) (liOAl) Used primarily in Hi Heat Resistant Enamels. (locU) (itOPl) (U0P2) (U0C2) (iiOPl), (ii0C2), and (hOP2) are .restricted items and (l*0Cli) should be used whenever a resin of this type is indicated. These vehicles are used in Baking Enamels and Aircraft Lacquers, principally Specification MIL-L-7178. (hOCli) im parts excellent water resistance and flexibility to this type of lacquer. (U0C12) Used in Silk Screen and Decal Lacquers. It provides excel lent intracoat system bond and toughness. (i*oc5) - The perfect nitrocellulose modifier for Paper'Lacquers, es pecially Color Card Lacquers. It is used in a ratio of one part resin to one part nitrocellulose and the resulting films have excellent gloss, holdout, flexibility and lack the tendency to curl. (2662) Used mainly as a plasticizing resin with nitrocellulose and ethyl cellulose lacquers.. It imparts good gloss and excel lent adhesion to metal, plastics and rubber. HI Used to modify either nitrocellulose or polyvinyl chloride. (li0C6) (U0C8) (liON3) These are used primarily with vinyls and in combination do an excellent job of plasticizing and stabilizing vinyl type finishes. 0007-PMC-000000285
