Martin an old formula book kept by John Lucas, starting in 1855, which Mr. Hollinger brought to my attention when 1 visited Gibbsboro recently. This old book interested Mr. Martin greatly, and he requested that I contact you and the heads of other affiliated companies asking if they would send to Cleveland items covering"the early history of each of the companies, de also requested that I prepare a special place in the collection room for the history of these affiliated companies, where items of historical value may be safely and permanently filed. May I ask you, therefore, at your earliest convenience, to collect such items which might be available, and which you would care to contribute, and send them to me with com prehensive description. At the same time I would like to take the occasion to collect any data about the early history of your company. I nave from time to time gathered scraps of information, but have never made any definite attempt to 6et it anywhere near complete. I have a complete outline of the history of the Acme Co., as per copy attached, sent to my by Mr. Knapp in January 1938. Possibly you may have something to add to this. I have no information on the Peninsular Paint and Vernish Co. I have taken occasion to write direct to Mr. J.S. Stewart for any information available about the Lincoln Paint and Color Company. Even though I have almost no time to devote to the collection I would like to get everything possible and see that it is properly and safely housed in the collection here at head quarters.
