M. H. DETRICK COMPANY* INSULATION DIVISION TECHNICAL DATA SHEET C L A S S___!LJ_P A G E___ L DETRICK T-60 INSULATING FINISH Detrick T-60 is a hydraulic setting insulating finish cement designed specifically for use on valves, pumps, fittings, and equipment treated with Thermon* high heat transfer plastic compound. It is mixed with water, then applied 1" to 1-1/2" thick. T-60 Finish improves the thermal efficiency of the system and affords protection for indoor or outdoor service. As shown in the illustration, Thermon Plastic Compound is first applied over steam tracer lines or thermal electric systems as speci fied by The Thermon Manufacturing Company. This application of high conductivity Thermon Plastic provides an accelerated heat transfer rate from the tracer lines to the body of the valve or fitting. After the Thermon Plastic has set, T-60 is troweled over the valve or fitting. This further distributes the heat transfer and provides a durable finish. THERMON COMPOUND OCTRICK - T-60 INSULATING FINISH REINFORCING HAIRPINS APPLICATION After the Thermon Plastic Compound is ap OETRICK - T-60 INSULATING FINISH plied but before it has set, wire hairpins are inserted in the compound to provide anchorage TYPICAL * THERMCNIZED* VALVE SECTION for Detrick T-60 Insulating Finish. The hair pins are of soft wire, #18 or #20 gauge, approximately 1" long, with extended legs. Depending on the size and shape of the valve or fitting being treated, the hairpins are inserted on approximately 2" centers, setting them about 1/4" deep in the Thermon Plastic Compound. Detrick T-60 Insulating Finish is applied directly to the surface after the Ther-` mon Plastic has set, troweling it carefully into the hairpin reinforcement. Appli cation of T-60 Insulating Finish should be in a single layer, 1" to 1-1/2" thick as specified, mixing no more in advance than will be applied within two hours after water is added.
