Dear Dr* FuHam: We wish to thank you for your letter of Hay 2nd and for the set of cigarette samples which we reeeived very promptly last week. ijrrTi We note from your initial experiment with regular ^Kjarts^ using the short cut technique which we thought might work, that you were unable to observe any silicate fibers in the specimens so prepared* However from the third paragraph of your letter, we observe that you feel that if three, four, or five cigarettes are smoked In a reasonably normal manner into a snail quantity (15 oc) of acetone followed by centrifugation, a quite satis factory sample can be obtained in a reasonable time* If this procedure will work for making the comparisons with which ve are concerned, ve would say by all means to go ahead.
