Employee assisting with maintenance work at the time. w* Employee helped insulate lines in the new unit recovery area. During that time, a union on the east RVCM charge pump nearby was found to be leaking (and was immediately repaired). 4- Employee present in old unit re covery area when a contractor doing demolition work removed a valve from a knockout tank recirculation line. The old unit was being started up at the time and VCM was released as a result. Helped clean out fluid bed dryer during a shutdown. Jerald Uptain Source Employee helped correct problem following filter pack gasket blowout of 10/4/82 mentioned above. Installed filters in old unit recovered VCM vilter pack. The pack had been opened and valved off prior to this time. The employee opened the pack, drained water from it and in stalled the new filters, noting a scent of VCM. Employee acting as firewatch for demolition work in old unit when a valve was erroneously removed from a knockout tank recircula tion line (same incident as Vinyl Shift Supervisor overexposure of 1-4 ppm mentioned above). Employee overexposed while sampling 741 and 743 reactors. Employee worked near the new unit knockout tanks preparing for in sulation work. He recalls smelling VCM at one point. v Employee helped correct problem, following filter pack gasket blowout of 10/4/82 mentioned above. Employee blanked out 9Q1 vacuum pump. Employee changed agitator seal on 741 reactor.
