This is to be a multi-purpose document intended to describe a five-year (or longer) plan, along with a perspective on why such an effort is worthwhile. If successful, this document will contain sufficient background information to allow a broader understanding of and participation in major decisions of an environmental nature. Many of these decisions will have impact on commercial, strategic and public perception issues. As such, they will require endorsement outside the traditional technical and manufacturing areas. It is my intention to assist in development of a tentative plan, working primarily within the manufacturing and technical areas. That plan, together with the background information, would then be the subject of various group meetings to discuss, critique and refine it into an agreed upon corporate direction. From time to time, I expect to issue drafts of sections of the "white paper", requesting review and comment by interested parties. As a first step in that process, a draft outline is attached. Your feedback would be appreciated. (Most drafts will not be as widely distributed as this letter.)
