Box y688 uilmington, Delaware Dear Johnt Thank you for your letter of November 17, with comments on the forms and instructions sent to you* I am afraid that I have sent you an uneorrected instruction booklet* I prepared the sheets in the form in which you saw them, and later discussed them with each of the men who are now engaged in safety work* A number of additions, explanations, and corrections were made verbally, and transcribed to the instruction sheets by the safety men. These will cover items 17, E5, 9, and 33 that you mention, insofar as question 37 was concerned, that was also changed to 4 U, S, gallons* under question 40 we used a factor of 470 pounds of tetraethyl lead per large drum as an approximation of the actual figure 47S.86* The factor for lo gallon drams of 85 pounds was based, I believe, on the percentage of lead in the present aviation mix* I assumed that the greater proportion of 10 gallon drums used in this country, were used for aviation mixing* Under question 45, v?e have discussed in detail the question of the level of the take off line and feed line in the tanks, and the safety men are instructed to insist upon changes wherever there is possibility either of entrainment or stratification of ethyl fluid.
