Notice of Annual Meeting, Board of Directors Meeting and Industry-Govern ment Conference
The Ninth Annual Meeting of the Association will be held Wednesday, September 19. 1979. rnmmpncina at 8:00 AM. in Stouffer's
National Center Hotel, Arlington, Virginia, (five minutes from Washington National Airport on Jefferson Davis Highway). Tel ephone number of the hotel is (703) 979-6800. This meeting will be followed by a meeting of AIA/NA's Board of Directors to which associate members. Association committee members, and member company guests are also invited to attend. Copies of the draft agenda are enclosed.
Commencing with lunch, September 19, the Association will conduct
an industry-government conference which will conclude following
lunch on Thursday, September 20. Principal conference sessions
include: an industry panel presentation on construction work
practices recommended for asbestos-containing products; review
of current and prospective regulations affecting the industry
by a regulatory agency panel (CPSC, DOT, EPA, FDA, MSHA and
OSHA); and an update of current information on the asbestos-
health relationship by three distinguished speakers from the medical-
scientific community. Among those invited as guest speakers are
Dr. Eula Bingham. Assistant Secretary of Labor (OSHA).Mr. Etienne
van der Rest;. Managing Director, Eternit, and Chairman of the
Governing Council, Asbestos International Association, Mr. Lionel
Puize representing the Quebec Asbestos Mining Association, and

a member of Congress.
Mr. Guy Gabrielson, Chairman of the Board, Nicolet, Inc., will serve as conference chairman. A copy of the tentative program is enclosed.
Your attention is invited to the enclosed registration form. A block of rooms has been reserved at Stouffer's Hotel. Costs involved for AIA/NA members (two receptions, two lunches, dinner, breakfast, and conference proceedings) will be absorbed by the

Association. Members are encouraged to invite representatives from their companies to attend. It is anticipated that members of the AIA/NA Technical Committee will be included in member representation since this group has scheduled a meeting on September 18. A charge of $100 to members will be necessary for each guest (non-member representative) attending the con ference.
As you know, the annual meeting and industry-government conference are major events in the Association's work year. Thus, we look forward to your attendance and participation in the two-day program.
Please return the registration form at your earliest convenience. Deadline for hotel reservations is August 30, 1979.
